Fatema Jahan Sharna is a Judge from Bangladesh. She has joined the judiciary of Bangladesh in 2008. Currently, she is working as the Senior Assistant Secretary (Joint District and Sessions Judge) at Law Commission, Bangladesh on deputation. She has also worked as the Assistant Judge, the Senior Assistant Judge, and the Senior Judicial Magistrate in Kishoreganj and Manikganj Districts. She has worked as the Translation Officer- Research at the Law Commission, Bangladesh as well. While working at Law Commission, she has dealt with several research works concerning the reports of enactment of new laws and amendment of existing laws as well as the strategic plan of the Commission.
She has completed her LL.B (Hons), LL.M, and MSS in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has also submitted her MPhil thesis paper on Environmental Law at the same University which outcome is yet to be published. Recently she has completed her Research Masters on Gender Equity, Climate Change Adaptation and Environmental law from the Macquarie University, Australia with distinction with Australia Awards Scholarship. She has six publications in different national journals.
She was borne in 1982 in Bangladesh. She is a single parent of two children.Back to speakers
