Judge Emily L. San Gaspar-Gito is currently the Presiding Judge of a Regional Trial Court in Manila and has been working in the Judiciary for 22 years. She has been awarded by the Philippine Society for Judicial Excellence as Most Outstanding First Level (MeTC) and Second Level Court (RTC) Judge of the Philippines in 2012 and 2016, respectively.
Judge Gito was invited by the U.S. State Department to participate in its International Visitor Leadership Program in 2015 with a theme “Women as Community Leaders.” She was also invited by Japan International Cooperation Agency to participate in the Knowledge Co-Creation Program in Counterpart Training for Sector Regulations on the subject Competition Law and Policy in 2016. She participated in the Judicial Roundtable Discussion to tackle various issues on foreign judgment, environment, money-laundering and climate change. She joined in the “ASEAN Workshop on Criminal Justice Responses to Trafficking in Persons” held in Bangkok, Thailand.
In addition to being a Judge, Judge Gito is a professor of law, Bar Reviewer, MCLE Lecturer and Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) Lecturer, teaching subjects in law such as Constitutional Law, Remedial Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Persons and Family Relations.Back to speakers
