Hon Christine Njagi Mmbwanga is a Senior Resident Magistrate currently serving at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Courts (JKIA LAW COURTS).
She was employed in 2013 and has served at the Kwale Law Courts as well as the Milimani Law Courts where she has been engaged in various Corporate Social Responsibility activities that have benefited both her and the community she serves. She has passion for children and gender issues as well as she is an environmentalist and has been continuously involved in tree planting and activities that support environmental conservation and protection. She is an active participant in Court Users Committees where she has participated in joint efforts to sensitize the communities on issues of gender, children rights, succession, sexual gender based violence and how to report such cases and its various aspects. She encourages children, women and men to know their rights by distributing copies of the Constitution and sensitizing them on their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Hon. Njagi is a member of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association (CMJA), Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) and is currently the Secretary of the International Association of Women Judges-Kenya Chapter (IAWJ-KC). She is also a member and as well as part of the Secretariat of the National Council on Administration of Justice Criminal Justice Reforms Committee (NCAJ-NCCJR) whose mandate is to identify and propose reforms in the Criminal Justice System and lastly she is a member of the International Commission of Jurists-Kenyan Section as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as an Associate Member.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB), a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law as well as a Masters in Environmental Policy (MA). She is currently pursuing her PhD in Environmental Law at the University of Nairobi. During her career she has presented at various national and international conferences and sessions on topics such as New Technologies and Gender at the Argentina Biennial Conference and on Human trafficking and her experiences from the JKIA Court at the Summit of African Women Judges and Prosecutors held at the Casina Pio IV, Vatican City. She is born again, loves Jesus Christ as her personal savior and is married.
